Allyson's Essay

Today was a normal Monday for me.I brought in my glass bottle for the Mothers day project,then I went to Learning Lab.When I came back from learning lab the class was writing down notes for are Mothers day poem I quickly got out a piece of paper to write down notes too.Then it was recess time I hung out with my friend Jaslie we ran Hundred Mile club together.After recess we did topic 13 math we learned about changing fractions to decimals and changing decimals to fractions.I also learned how to change percents to decimals by doing doy-ing doy-ing to the left,and when changing decimals to percents you do doy-ing doy-ing to the right.At 12:40 the class went to lunch I sat outside to eat with my friends.At lunch recess I went to the classroom to get the vocab words from Maria I wrote the words down in my journal.When everyone came back from recess we read are silent reading books I read my book called May Bird among the stars.Then after reading are books we learned about Ancient people in India.We read the chapters called Indus Valley Civilization and the Importance of Floods.I cant wait to learn about the silk road in China because I got to go to a museum that displayed everything about the people that walked the road.I even saw a few mummies their it was pretty cool ! At the end of the day everyone packed up to go to rotations Sandra and I left for learning lab.There we practiced some more math,from there I went home waiting for my cat to greet me at the door,and ready for another school day.

my daily day at school
it was morning and i just got off my bus,bus 16,and i was heading to the cafeteria.i ordered a sunrise sandwich because they remind me of sausage mcmuffins.after breakfast,i came into class and as always,david p. kicks my chair.for today,there was a lot,but not much stuff.first,there was "math-a-mania monday!".during math-a-mania,mr.grothem said we were running out of jokes,but luckily we finished all the questions before we finished the jokes.but sadly,mr.grothem said we had to finish all the jokes "until sahil laughs".but these weren't jokes. they were facts...animal facts.we thought math-a-mania was over but guess what...it wasn't over...it was just half of it or...i don't know maybe there was more.anyways,since we ran out of jokes,we used a poop book(not joking)and found out some disgusting facts!anyways,after math,we went to lunch.i ordered chicken nuggets.after i ate i went up to class to do my missing work.recess ended,but that didn't mean i couldn't finish.after i finished,handed it to mr.grothem and continued on math-a-mania.after we finished our last question,we went to the field to play softball/baseball.after p.e. i got my backpack and left straight to home sweet home.... : )

My Day at School

Today I woke up and got ready for school.Also today was April,26,2011,It was a nice warm weather with little wind.As I walked to our line,few of my friends greeted me.When i went there,I was relieved that i was not late.The morning school bell rang,Mr.Grothem came to pick us up and now an another regular day at school begins when i entered the classroom.

I went to my desk,put my backpack on my chair,took out my journal and my books,and wrote on our journal.That was my usual routine in the morning before we did our lessons,but today we had to do part one on our math test.Before we did that,Jovan asked some questions about volume and it took awhile to answer it.Now the state test math part one begins.Mr.Grothem told us the instructions and gave us our test.I began my test.I was worried at first because Mr.Grothem said 6th grade math is hard,but once i looked at the questions,i though that I might able to get a good score again.I felt confident and then I was finished with part 1.

Everybody was finished with part one on the math state test,and now we were able to get our recess break.First I played handball with few of my friends,but the most of the boys played and said it was an "all in game".In the end,I didn't really played that much at recess.

After recess,we went to the classroom and I did my job watering Mr.Grothem's little plant.After that,the class was playing a game in quizlet.Mr.Grothem clicks on the button to make it say the definition,and the class will shout out the term of the definition after he says "one,two,three".I didn't won the game because I didn't keep track of my points.

Suddenly,it was 12:40 p.m. already!It was time for lunch.Me and Kassandra went down stairs together to eat our lunch.We sat down together and ate,but Kassandra didn't eat.Jeannell and Shayne sat down beside me too.After I finished my lunch,Jeannell gave me a piece of her McDonald's hamburger,and eventually i ate it.After the 6th grade students are released to lunch recess,I went to the line where me and Kassandra waited.We chatted while we waited for M.Grothem to pick us up to go upstairs.When I was in the classroom during lunch ,all of us that went upstairs including me,helped Mr.Grothem with extra stuff.

Now lunch recess ended and it's time to silent read.I read my Percy Jackson Book,The Lightning Thief.I manage to be half way of the book.I was half way because it's a very long book,but it's very interesting to read.Later on,the class and I did some math practice problems.I manage to get 82% even though the time limit was very fast.After we finished we played baseball with a tennis racket and a tennis ball.We had fun and the eighty percent or higher team won!

     The dismissal bell rang and I went home.That was my day at school.

Kassandra's Essay

MY DAY AT SCHOOL

Today we were studying on our CST language arts.Before we started Mr.Grothem gave us academic  words. Mr.Grothem took us out for recess.After we came in from recess we started  a math lesson. Then we went to  When we came in from lunch we read then after we finished our work we went out for P.E and the ball over the fence Luis had to  run after it .We  were  going  to  go  home  then  Luis  came  back  with  the  ball and  Mr.Grothem  went  up  stairs  so  Pablo  could get his  things  after that Yesenia, Luis and  i  went  to  the  bus,  but  bus 17  was late  so  Luis and I  had  to  wait  for the bus and  it  was  really hot  .

Berenice's Essay

Today we did math madness all day! We did 43 problems,but it will pay off when we take our California Standard Test.Which is actually coming up this following week.Thank you Mr.Grothem for preparing us for this HUGE test.When it was 11:20 we took a break to go out to recess.Before recess Mr.Grothem tortured many of us by playing a song called Friday.WHY?  Then when we came back into class we took a look over Topic 20 math test.As soon as we finished we had to get to the kids getting in trouble.There weren't that many so that was a good thing.We once again got to Math madness,and heard some really horrible jokes.Finally we went out for PE.David and Danny ran at least three times while playing tennis baseball.Thank-you Mr.Grothem for taking us out to play.

My Day At School
Today we were working on our CST language arts. Before we started Mr.Grothem gave us snacks to eat during the test.When we finally finished taking our test Mr.Grothem took us out for recess.After we came in from recess we started  a math lesson. Then we went to lunch and they were selling Popsicles. When we came in from lunch we read then after we finished our work we went out for P.E and Jacobo hit the ball over the fence so we had to go back inside and write in our journal about anything we wanted I choose to write about how Jacobo hit the ball over the fence.Now we can’t play baseball because we're running out of balls.

Zenia's Essay

How was my day ?

           Today was a pretty normal day we had a few tests we learned some then we went home.My favorite part of today was when Mr.Grothem called the math nerds kids over to the back table for lunch recess ,my second favorite part was math it was very easy because we had all learned that lesson for math,last but not least I liked picking up my sister because my sister and I fight all the time in the car and today we did not fight.Now that's what I call a good day.

         So I told you my favorite part was when Mr.Grothem called the nerd kids over and told that if we ever got our name on the top lists of the pen than he would play our sound my sound is !WHAT! and the only reason I picked it was because like two seconds before I said what when Mr.Grothem told us that some of us would not get a voice.I liked Sahil's the best I wanted that one because it was spongebob's voice ,the second best was Clayton's his was funny.

          So also told you that my second favorite was math.Math was very easy and funny because there were kids who were picking out of the answers like if you you could not go above 40 they would pick 40.On the quiz I got 67% not that good I know but I thought it was very easy even though I got one wrong a lot of then we had our math test and I liked my grade I got a 83%
it was funny because I had high hopes for this test because we only have one test left after this.

             In a nutshell,I think today was a good day after all I mean we had a little bit of this and a little bit of that and we all had a good day after all.

David P's essay

Today At 8:50 We Entered The Class and a summary about a guy named Who-Di-Ne and then we went to rotations. After that we went back to class and read our summaries then did Word Of The Day. We learned about the word compile which is a verb.Then We Talked About Going to the computer lab but we Didn't go.At 11:20 we went to recess and I had a bag of Pretzels. When we came back we did learned about a lesson from 11:30 to 12:40,then we went to lunch. At Lunch I finished off my pretzels. After We came back we did a 7 question test and I got 100%.Then We went to the computer lab to do some things such as write a 6 word story.
At 3:00 I hugged Mr.Grothem and went home.

PS:I Did this in 2minutes.

Jovan's Day

What Happened Today-3/23/11

Today was pretty awesome. I got 5 out of 6 on my Reading test, 100% on Vocabulary, and rockin' things happened at recess. Firstly, it was pretty normal at recess, just you're average David Pham, Isiah, and David L. jacking the ball. Finally, we put of a fight to keep them on the field. When they had broken our defences, we managed to surround them  and finally drive them so far, they had to chuck the ball off the side of the tall slide. Zenia managed to snatch the ball, and it went downhill from there. We had to charge, and almost tackle her to receive the ball again. David C, Jarrod, Sahil, Tyler, and some others were helping too. See, the 5 of us usually hang out during recess, so we all know why they jack the ball, and we all know how to get it back. By force. Zenia finally managed to chuck the ball to Joy Cai, in anyway resulting to her telling the teacher it was HER ball, and that WE we're lying. That wasn't the case. When she finally stopped noobing around the teacher, she tossed it back to Zenia, and we finally ambushed it out of her. It was pretty insane. Yeah, after recess, and lunch, it was just normal. Mr. Grothem nagged a few kids, and I got 1 out of 2 on my quiz. It sucked, yeah. But, it's not that I don't understand it, it's just quizzes pressure me, and sometimes I can't finish the problem, before he's done. It's not like we have his brain power. And yes, in our defence against your attack, "Well you guys are nerds, you're smart, you should out-wit him." That's not the case. He;s had three years to practice, of course he's gonna know. So yeah, when he does the work, and finishes, he usually gives us approx. 5-10 seconds before shutting down the question. Finally, when school ended, I walked home to my sister's friend's house, and I played with their fluffy small dog. That's the conclusion to my day.

David C.'s Day

Today was mostly math and kids getting in trouble. Also, I had to go to band and back to class and then back to band again. It wasn't really a good day for the whole class even though there was no rainy day schedule, which was one bright thing today.

After PLC, Mr. Grothem told us to work while he got some kids in trouble. A lot of people got a strike from that. Then, the kids who were working on their video worked on it while we were correcting our PB pages. Then we took our vocabulary test and the video kids didn't get to take it, but we still got a good grade. After that, we had recess. Then, after recess was over, we came in and people started talking so Mr. Grothem told us to bring up the people who were talking, but nobody did, so he gave EVERYONE in the class a strike towards Seaworld and such. He then told us to write a persuasive statement that would convince him that we either should or shouldn't get a strike. Then,  we finally got into math.

For math, we learned how to make stem and leaf plots in 19-4. A stem and leaf plot is like a graph with a tens place and a ones place except all the ones places are placed right next to each other depending on what tens place it is. For example, if you have 12,14,15,23,24, and 25, then in the plot you would have 1/ 2,4,5 and 2/ 3,4,5,with one on top.Then, for 18-4, we learned how to make a graph. One special graph we learned about today was a scattergram. A scattergram is when you have a graph with points that don't connect or do anything and are just scattered. You could make one when you are using height and age, for instance. All the points would be different and scattered unless one of them was the exact same as another one. We also took our practice test for topic 18, and as a class I think we got an 84%. I got a hundred. It was only seven questions, though, so it was harder to get an A because if you missed one already you would have a B.

Then I went to band, but before I did I noticed that the people who already went to band forgot their homework so I had to go back to the classroom, open the door, get the homework, give Mr. Grothem his keys back, and finally go to band so I could give them their homework and so I could practice. Then I went home with my super heavy backpack and the school day was over.

Sahil's Day

What Happened Today

Today was a pretty normal day, for everybody else. For me it was a terrible day. I was coughing, cold, and had to walk home! Without that it was an ok day. Everything went well. (Except tons of kids got in trouble) For math we learned easy stuff, and language arts was easy too. It also rained which was terrible, (in my opinion) mostly because we get no recess.  So to sum up that day, it was pretty normal, but not for me.
